Georgetown, named after King George III of England, has one of the largest colonial buildings in South East Asia. First stop, Fort Cornwallis built in 1808 by the British East India Company. It is also marks the spot where Sir Francis Light landed on Penang. Next Chew Jetty or 'She Chew Kew' the biggest waterfront settlement or 'houses on stilts' created by Chinese immigrant in the mid 19th century. Drive through Street of Harmony, which houses the Anglican Church, Kuan Yin Chinese temple, Mahamariaman Indian temple and the Kapitan Kling mosque. Next The State Museum, built in 1821, houses a fine collection of old photographs, maps, charts and other historical relics. Tour ends with a visit to Wat Chayamangkalaram, a Thai temple which houses a 108ft long Reclining Buddha. Directly opposite is the Dhammikarama Burmese temple which houses a magnificent 8.2 meter high image of Lord Buddha.

On this excursion to the outskirt of Georgetown, you will get to see the actual process of batik designing. Then proceed on to a fishing village. From here we will then pass spice/fruit plantation, a brief stop at the fruit stalls to show you some of the spices and seasonal local fruits of Malaysia. We then proceed on to the famed Snake Temple. Last stop will be at the Oeding & Erdel (OE) jewelry factory where you be taken on a tour of the factory and shown the eight stages of how jewelry is created by master craftsmen.

Kek Lok Si Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in South-East Asia. Nestled within the hills in Penang, it is also known as the Temple of Ten Thousand Buddha's. The 7-tier Pagoda of 10,000 Buddha's, which dominates the temple, is influenced by the architecture styles of the Thais, Burmese and Chinese. A beautiful bronze statue of the Goddess of Mercy overlook the temple. Next, take the funicular rail ride up Penang Hill (830m above sea level), a cool hill retreat during colonial days for a panoramic view of Georgetown and the Straits of Malacca.

Watch the city of Georgetown come alive at night with blazes of lights and street peddlers. As Penang is famous for its local cuisine, your evening will begin with dinner at the local Hawker Stalls. After dinner, you will be taken on a short Trishaw ride. An authentic mode of transport used till today to ferry people from one destination to another. We than proceed on a scenic drive across Penang bridge. Penang bridge was officially opened in 1984, spanning a total length of 13.5km (8.4 miles), making it among the longest bridges of its kind in the world.

A 2hrs scenic drive along the North-South highway to Bukit Merah. Upon arrival at Marina jetty, you will board the lake cruiser for a 10-minutes ferry ride to the island, home to 18 Borneo Orang Utans. Tucked away on the 35 acres Panjang Island is the world's first 5-acres rehabilitation and preservation site where Orang Utans roam free. The unique island serves as a breeding sanctuary, as well as conservation, research and education center to better understand these endangered species. Next stop is Kuala Sepetang Mangrove Forest. Take a leisure stroll along the 800 meter long boardwalk to observe the different species of mangrove. This is an opportunity to know how mangrove timbers are processed into quality charcoals. Children below 90cm are NOT permitted into the Orang Utan sanctuary.

Witness one of nature's many marvels while on a romantic sunset view cruise towards the river mouth of the Sungai Kerian, Nibong Tebal. It is also at that very moment that romance begins as the fireflies of Sungai Kerian glow in a symphony of lights as they try to attract their mates. You will be amazed by with the synchronised flashes of light gently hovering over mangrove trees that lined the river bank. The specific species of mangrove tree which attracts these fireflies is the berembang.
